Law Useful Websites: HK - Law and Legislative Instruments

This guide introduces selected general reference sources on Hong Kong legal materials in the Chinese University of Hong Kong Library.

The Basic Law Bulletin is published jointly by the Department of Justice, the Civil Service Bureau and the Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau. It is published in support of the work of the Basic Law Promotion Steering Committee.

The Basic Law is the constitutional document of the HKSAR and the blueprint for HKSAR's future development. The website provides the full text of the Basic Law, some useful facts about the promulgation of the Basic Law, information about the implementation of the Basic Law, publicity materials concerned with promoting understanding of the Basic Law as well as links to some related websites.

Homepage of the Department of Justice of the HKSAR. Includes links to information on the Legal system in Hong Kong and a list of all the treaties that are in force and are applicable to the HKSAR.

The Historical Laws of Hong Kong Online is a full-text image database providing access to past revised editions of Hong Kong Laws. The database comprises a total of six consolidations of the laws of Hong Kong: 1890, 1901, 1912, 1923, 1937, 1950, and 1964 (last updated to 1989).

Hong Kong Government Reports Online (HKGRO) is a full-text image database providing online access to pre- World War II issues of four major government publications, namely, Administrative Report, Hong Kong Sessional Papers, Hong Kong Hansard and Hong Kong Government Gazette. It contains a wide range of information, such as official notifications, proceedings of the Legislative Council, statistics, and reports of government departments and special committees.

This database allows users to search for registered Trademarks, Patents and Designs within Hong Kong.
