BMJ Best Practice

BMJ Best Practice is a point-of-care resource and a clinical decision support tool which structured around the patient consultation. It provides step-by-step guidance on symptom evaluation, treatment, follow-up and prevention to help make evidence-based clinical decisions.


Quick Search

1. To begin a search, enter the condition or symptom into the search box. 

2.  You may also choose to browse content from the menu bar beneath the search box. Updates on conditions and topics can be found by clicking the Recent updates icon. Select the icon Specialties to browse content from more than 30 specialised areas. 


View your Search Results:

The Summary icon provides an overview of key information on the condition. You will see the dates of last updated and last reviewed of the content above the Summary. Contents related to the condition are organized by sections i.e. Theory, Diagnosis, Management, Follow Up, and Resources. 

  • Click on Images and videos to see relevant images and videos of the condition.
  • Click Evidence to access highest-quality evidence related to the condition from Cochrane Clinical Answers. 
  • The Patient leaflets provide concise and easy to read summaries for patients and carers.
