Participants of Data Hack 2021 are invited to join the pre-hackathon workshops to get prepared for the competition in the Data Hack 2021. Interested CUHK students and staff are also welcome to join the workshops.
The workshops are classified in five categories:
Students who attend at least one workshop in every category will be issued a certificate of attendance (Introduction to Data Competency Certificate). For those workshops that fall into multiple categories, only one category can be considered for fulfilling the requirement. Students who want to receive the certificate are required to attend at least 5 workshops, with one from each category.

Build Rapid Data Solutions on Google Cloud Platform This workshop will walk you through some common Google Cloud components and APIs, and demonstrate the entire lifecycle of a complete data solution. The end goal is to enable the participants to quickly build and deploy data applications at scale. Tentative topics include: CloudFunc, Cloud Pub/Sub, Cloud Scheduler, BigQuery, DataStudio, BigQuery API, Cloud NLP API, Cloud Vision API, AutoML Tables.

Web and Database Programming in Python This workshop aims to introduce Python Flask, a popular web application framework for connecting to SQL (e.g. MySQL) and NoSQL (e.g. MongoDB) databases on the back-end and serving RESTful API requests originated from the front-end (e.g. web browser or mobile) following a MVC (model-view-controller) framework. Part I: Part II: * Knowledge of Python, HTML/CSS/JavaScript and SQL databases are required for signing up the workshop.

Ingest and Analyze IoT Data with Azure Most of the IoT (Internet of Things) value comes from analyzing its data. However, ingesting analyzing high volume of data can be a complex task.
