Chemistry: Finding property and spectra

Finding Properties

SciFinder is the most comprehensive chemical information discovery tool of chemical information. It allows you to explore the CAS databases which contain literature from many scientific disciplines; check SciFinder content at glance for more details.

Please note that only current CUHK faculty, students and staff are eligible to use SciFinder for research purposes only.

SciFinder’s one-time user registration allows you to create your own SciFinder username and password. You must use your CUHK email address (that ends with .cuhk.edu.hk) to be recognized as eligible to register.

After a user account is created, you may login and use SciFinder Scholar.

Finding Spectra

Infrared Spectroscopy for Organic Chemists Web Resources
This gateway website contains many links to IR-related databases and software, including the NIST Chemistry Webbook and SDBS.

MassSpectator Online Calculator (NIST)
Calculates the area beneath peaks from mass spectra

NIST Chemistry WebBook
The NIST Chemistry WebBook provides access to data compiled and distributed by NIST, including IR, UV/Vis, MS spectra, and thermochemical and thermophysical properties information.

NMRShift DB
NMR database for organic structures and their nuclear magnetic resonance (nmr) spectra. It allows for spectrum prediction (13C, 1H and other nuclei) as well as for searching spectra, structures and other properties.
