ORCID Registration

If you do not have an ORCID iD, you may follow the following steps to register an ORCID account.

  Click the icon below to register on ORCID website​​


  Fill in a form by following the onscreen instruction

  Common error messages:

  • An account already exists: Your email has been used to register for an ORCID iD. Please click Reset Password. A link will be sent to your email for resetting your password, and the link is valid for 4 hours.
  • A deactivated record exists: Your email has been used to register for a deactivated ORCID iD. Please click here to learn how to reactivate a deactivated account.


  Verify your email address

After submitting the registration form, you will receive a welcome email from ORCID. Following the email instruction to verify your email address to complete your registration. If you do not receive the email, you are advised to check the spam folder.


Authorizing others to manage your ORCID (Optional)

You can give permission to a trusted individual such as an administrative assistant to manage your ORCID account. The trusted individual must have his or her own ORCID iD. After you have granted the permission, he or she can add and remove information in your ORCID.

  Click the icon below to sign into your ORCID account


  Click your name on the top right corner and click "Trusted parties" in the pull-down menu.

 Under the "Trusted individuals" section, enter the trusted individual’s ORCID iD, email address, or name in the search box and click "Search ORCID for trusted individuals"


  Click "Add as trusted individual" in the pop-up window to confirm.


  The trusted individual can manage your ORCID profile by clicking "Switch to another account" on his/ her own ORCID profile.
