Data Champion

While Research Data Management (RDM) is of growing importance in academia in recent years, CUHK has set up various related services and training to support researchers on their research data management.

The CUHK Library is now inviting students and staff at CUHK to be Data Champions (DCs).  This aims to:

  • Promote RDM in faculty
  • Provide a bridge between researchers in faculty and the Library
  • Offer immediate RDM advice for researchers
  • Create a network on RDM across different faculties

Roles of Data Champions

  • Advise the research members (staff/students) in their faculty on proper data management skills;
  • Promote good data management practices and principles;
  • Refer support-needed cases to the Library;
  • Share their experience with other Data Champions in the bi-monthly meetings; and
  • Form a network across different faculties

Training for Data Champions

  • Workshops offered by the Library on Research Data Management 
  • Seminar provided by guest speakersBrown bag lunch
  • Three bi-monthly brown-bag meetings to share their experience

Allowance

Each Student Data Champion will be provided $12,000 per year.

Characters of Potential Data Champions

Potential Data Champions are:

  • Outgoing to reach out to researchers in his/her faculty;
  • Interested to learn about RDM; and
  • Willing to share their experience

Candidates without prior RDM knowledge are welcome. Those with some RDM knowledge will be in an advantage at the interview.  To learn more about RDM, please go here.
