Introduction
Using a standardized and consistent legal citation style is essential for legal researchers, practitioners, and other readers to accurately locate and verify the cases, legislation, and secondary sources cited in your work. It also ensures proper credit is given to the original sources and helps prevent plagiarism.
It is important to note that citation styles may vary depending on the requirements of your course instructor or publisher. Some course instructors may be flexible about the citation style as long as it is consistently applied throughout your paper. It is recommended to consult your course instructor to determine which citation style you should use for your assignment.
The Library also prepared another citation style guide based on the Oxford University Standard of the Citation of Legal Authorities (OSCOLA).
